Gumaye Foundation is registered by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Authority for Civil Society Organization (EACSO), and accorded legal personality with the registry number 7101 in accordance with the Civil Society Organization Proclamation No. 1113/2019. African northern-horn dynamic civilizations across historical time have footprinted immense cultural values, heritage wealth, linguistic diversity, belief systems, and socio-political divergence. This diversity of cultural heritage and historical travel made East Africa, especially Ethiopia, and Eritrea, among the top potential tourism destination in Africa. However, climatic change and its environmental effect, war, and political crises have altered both economic and social progress; moreover, inadequate quality of education drains society retrograde. The recent Northern Ethiopia drastic war imprecated human catastrophe and cultural heritage damage. This augmented the loss of human lives and the already endangered cultural and emotional values of society. This consequence can extend into cultural shock, social decay, and socioeconomic degeneration. The East African region has been challenged by environmental change, war, political crises, illiteracy, lack of knowledge of society, poor quality of research and documentation. Therefore, emphasizing to improve the livelihood and salvage of the sociocultural heritage materials and their emotional values, our foundation is instituted to work for East Africa (with a current focus of Northern Ethiopia’s Tigray) on the themes:
- Livelihood
- Literacy & Education
- Culture & Heritage
- Research
- Environment
- Peace & Stability
